Semi-detached house in Belluno with Clivet Smart Living
Semi-detached house built in 1974 on two floors with a 76m2 flat on the ground floor and a 76m2 flat on the first floor
Existing system with 35 kW oil boiler for heating and domestic hot water production
The challenge
- OBJECTIVE 1: To reduce energy consumption and improve indoor air quality
- OBJECTIVE 2: To increase energy efficiency by maintaining the existing system with radiators
- OBJECTIVE 3: For the first floor flat, to also have cooling in summer
All with as little impact as possible in terms of time and work on the building envelope.
The solution
To achieve these objectives, the owner intervened in 2 steps. The Clivet Smart Living system is in fact designed to be implemented over time.
In 2023, the following were installed:
- 6kW Photovoltaic system with 15 kW/h Sinergy storage and coat and ELFOFresh EVO air renewal system with ELFOAir distribution
In 2024, the condominium boiler was replaced with 2 autonomous systems, each consisting of a monobloc heat pump with natural refrigerant R290 (propane) EDGE F with 4.5 kW thermal and 300 litre hot water storage.
The heat pump installed on the ground floor is used for heating with water flow at 50° C in combination with the existing radiators and for domestic hot water production;
The heat pump installed on the first floor, with another owner, is instead used not only for heating and domestic hot water production but also for summer cooling in combination with two CFW fan coils supplied with water at 7° C.
Each heat pump is controlled by a single-zone thermostat, while the fan coils are controlled by remote controls.
The results and next objectives
Thanks to the modularity of the Clivet Smart Living system, which can be implemented over time, the owners have been able to achieve all their objectives: improving the energy efficiency of the home, reducing running costs, improving air quality and, for the first floor flat, having optimal comfort even in the hottest months.
The replacement of the old heating system was also very quick thanks to the new propane technology that allows high efficiency even with high temperature water and made it possible to replace the old oil boiler with heat pumps while maintaining the radiator distribution system.
The next goal
‘First floor owner Alberto Levis ‘I am very satisfied with the system installed, which allows me to have the right temperature and clean air all year round, and with the fast installation time. I have now also purchased the Control4 NGR comfort and energy management system with the aim of managing the entire ground floor flat system and storage batteries in order to optimise energy consumption and perhaps achieve energy self-sufficiency.’
